Update report

La Familia! Bienvenido!
Update Report from the Moravian Latino Outreach & Pastor Tracy Robinson

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am so pleased to give you this update on our Moravian Outreach to the local Latino community. In the last month alone we have been able to help several families with food, clothing and other needs. Many people fall between the cracks in the social service system and they are so thankful to have someone to call. It is our pleasure to serve them in the name of Christ on behalf of the Moravian Church. Pray for people with health issues, the elderly, the teens who feel disconnected and the very young for their safety. We want to help strengthen families and provide spiritual support for all.
Our goal is to plan several events for our three targeted areas – south side of Bethlehem, north side near College Hill Moravian and the west side near Westside Moravian Church. We want to have family picnic events which we are calling La Familia! in each of these neighborhoods followed by the formation of Bible study groups. To plan an event we have to secure a location and date, set up teams for food, games and clean-up, and most importantly walk the streets to invite people. Our first La Familia! is planned for July 24th from 10 am until 2 pm at College Hill Moravian. There is much to do to prepare for this event. Inviting and prayer are key - will you join us? Because this is our first event we need teams to help with food preparation, set-up, games, greeting, and clean-up. Individuals who want to walk the streets with me to invite people in the weeks before the event are also needed.
We are hoping that by the end of summer we will have a base of operation on the south side. There are a few details to work out but this will give us important community location and we can begin events there.
The last item is the development of our Core Team which will include teams for Visioning, Welcoming, Spiritual Life, Communication and Prayer Partners. We welcome you or your church to jump in and help as you feel led. We are now actively recruiting people for the teams. Additionally we have a goal to secure 100 Prayer Partners who will receive a monthly email blast updating you on this ministry. Contact me today to sign up as a prayer supporter.
We are so excited about the privilege of serving our Latino community!
